Committed to the overall mission of College of Saint
Mary, which is dedicated to the
education of women in an environment that calls forth potential and fosters
leadership, the Institute for the Study
of Women in Leadership seeks to effectively study that which encourages
leadership in women - with a special focus on leadership by women in business
and society.
In conjunction with the initial launch of the Institute, two key research
studies were released on September 18, 2008.
The first, conducted by CSM graduate students in the Master in Organizational Leadership
program under the supervision of Tammy Moerer, Ph.D., examined the importance
of networking and highlights key barriers and strategies for women in building
social capital in Omaha.

of Sue Schlichtemeier-Nutzman, Ph.D., examines why girls often opt out of
leadership opportunities.

CSM Launches Online Networking
Group for Professional Women
The Omaha Women in Leadership LinkedIn Group is an online networking group for
professional women - supported by the Institute for the Study of Women in
Leadership. Membership is open to any woman with a passion for her career and
the desire to support other women through networking.
Using a social
media Website such as LinkedIn, CSM provides women of all ages the opportunity
to connect with each other without having to sacrifice valuable time usually
reserved for family obligations.
