Walk Tall Honors Program

The Walk Tall Honors Program provides an opportunity for academically successful undergraduate students to form a supportive community while exploring issues and gaining experiences that will expand their understanding of a variety of academic, artistic, civil, ideological, scientific, social, psychological, and cultural topics or issues.

Student Benefits

  • Join a group of students who are high academic achievers and passionate about their studies.
  • When you complete the Walk Tall Honors Program, you’ll receive an honors medallion to wear at graduation, along with a certificate.
  • Successful program completion will be noted on your official college transcript. This portrays you as not only academically successful, but also an individual who seek challenge and pursue scholarship.
  • Attend a number of events throughout Omaha including guided tours of museums, fine arts performances, speakers etc. Events are free for WTHP students.
  • Participate in service events and activities at local non-profit organizations.
     

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Current and new CSM undergraduate and transfer ​students.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  • SAT score greater than 1180 or ACT score greater than 24, or graduation in the top 10% of their high school class.
     

Program Completion

  • Accepted students enroll in Honors 101 (HNR 101), a 0-credit hour course.
  • Students must complete 4 semesters of HNR 101 with passing grades, as an undergraduate, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher until graduation. 
  • During each semester of HNR 101, students attend events and complete written assignments.

College of Saint Mary offers a General Education curriculum as part of every major. General Education courses include Philosophy, Theology, Culture and Diversity, Communication, English, Fine Arts, Psychology, Sociology, Math, and Science. In 400 words or more, please describe the benefits and importance of completing General Education courses as a requirement of your undergraduate education. In addition, please discuss/describe two goals that you hope to achieve during your time at College of Saint Mary.
