WELCOME to the web site for the exciting new
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program at College of Saint Mary!
This MSN degree
will prepare YOU to TEACH in a variety of healthcare settings:
School of Nursing:
YOUR goal might
be to teach in a school of nursing, in a clinical area, classroom, or both.
Patient Education: If YOU prefer to focus on patient
education, there are many populations and opportunities to teach in hospitals
and in community settings.
Staff Development: There is an ever-expanding need for new
knowledge and skills for practitioners of nursing and other healthcare
professionals. YOU can lead the
way in teaching new advances in technology and in new diagnoses and treatment
of health conditions.
Continuing Education: Nurses and other healthcare professionals
maintain their abilities to provide effective health care through continuing
education, that YOU could plan and teach.
The nursing
faculty and myself are committed to making it possible
for you to reach your goal of obtaining your MSN with a major in Education.
It is important
that the process of your journey in professional learning is relevant to you,
takes place in an environment of support, and where your professional
experiences are respected. You will have
an opportunity to personalize your program of study to meet your goals through
creative partnerships with faculty, scholarly projects and experiences in
healthcare settings.
The MSN degree
can be completed on a part-time basis or full-time in four semesters. The program is offered in a hybrid format,
meeting approximately six times per semester with web-based enhancements.
I sincerely
look forward to meeting you and hearing from you. Best wishes to you as you seek a new exciting
journey in obtaining your MSN!
