How do I obtain a campus card?

Starting Fall of 2007, updated campus cards will be issued to all students, faculty and staff at no charge.  Visit the Campus Information Center to have a new card produced.  Students must be registered and have completed their semester financial arrangements in order to use the debit function of the campus card.

When is my card activated?

For debit and printing services, the account will be activated at the beginning of the semester will be made available to students the same day as the completion of the Semester Financial Arrangement (SFA) process.

What if I lose my card?

Please call the Campus Information Center immediately to have the card deactivated.  Once your card has been deactivated, the funds on your lost or stolen card will be placed on hold until you receive a replacement Campus Card.  The funds on hold will be transferred to the new card. The lost or stolen card will no longer be valid.  Purchases made with a lost or stolen card will not be refunded.  Please note that there is a $5.00 fee for each replacement card issued.

Where can I make a purchase with my card?

Purchases can be made at Christina's Place, the CSM Campus Store, the Dining Hall and designated printers and copiers on campus.  You can use this just as you would cash!

What if my card is damaged?

Although the first CSM Campus Card received is issued at no charge, subsequent cards that are lost, stolen, or damaged will be replaced for a $5.00 fee.

How do I make deposits on my card?

Money can be added to the CSM Campus Card by utilizing the Campus Card Station - located in the Hixson Lied Commons by swiping the card, selecting "Deposit cash to account" and inserting the exact amount of cash you wish to deposit to the card. The Campus Card Station will accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills but will not give change.  Money can also be added at the Express Center by cash, check or credit card.  There is no limit to the amount that can be placed on the card.

How can I check my card balance?

Account balance can be checked utilizing the Campus Card Station that is located in the Hixson Lied Commons by swiping the card and selecting "Balance Inquiry".  The screen will indicate your current balance with the ability to print a receipt.

When does my CSM Campus Card expire?

The current balance in your Campus Card account will carry over from semester to semester or year to year.  The Campus Card will be valid until graduation or separation from CSM.

Can I get a refund on money on my card?

At this time, no refunds will be given for balances remaining on the CSM Campus Card.

Can I use my card at campus vending machines, washers or dryers?

At the current time, this functionality is not available, although CSM is continuing to evaluate future uses of the Campus Card.

How do I use my card in the Dining Hall?

Students living on campus will automatically be given access into the Dining Hall one time per meal period by presenting the Campus Card to the cashier.  Students, faculty or staff can also purchase a block of 10 meals in the Express Center at a cost of $42.50.  Stored value can also be used to purchase individual meals in the Dining Hall at the regular meal rate.  Please note that meals are non-transferable and non-refundable.

What is the purpose of moving to a pay-as-you-go print/copy system?

The printing rules are in place to help promote ecological responsibility and reduce operational costs.

Why do I pay a technology fee?

The technology fees are used to fund investments to provide CSM with technologies such as new computers (two computer labs are outfitted with new computers each year), our full-campus wireless infrastructure, classroom technologies, laptops, software applications (such as the upgrade to Office 2007 in the computer labs) as well as infrastructure improvements such as system servers and network equipment.

Is the free allotment fair?

The printing plan has been designed to make sure that all students have equal access to printing and copying resources.

What are faculty members doing to reduce the burden for printing course materials?

We are working closely with faculty members to address concerns around printing course materials and have asked them to consider having documents printed and made available at the bookstore as well as not requiring paper copies of materials that are easily accessible in electronic format.

How does credit from the punch card in the library migrate to the new swipe system?

The new print system will replace the library punch cards, and we are beginning to phase out the library punch cards.  If you would like to use a punch card (in the library only), present the card to one of the library staff to release the print job.

What if I lose my card?  Can anyone use it to print?

If you happen to lose your card, please follow the lost card procedure above as soon as possible as it may be possible for others to steal credits from your account.

When I print how does the printer know who to charge?

You will use your Campus Card to complete the print transaction at a Printing Release Station.  Similarly, for copying, you will use your Campus Card to unlock the copying console.

Can the allotted semester print credit be used on something else besides printing and copying?

No.  Print credits can be used for printing and copying only.
