Since my dad was in the military, I moved all over, including Stuttgart, Germany, Bellevue, NE, Raleigh, NC, Dayton, OH, and I currently live in Plattsmouth, NE. I have a sister, Alyson, who is two years younger than I. When I'm not in the residence halls, I live with my mom, Greg, and Alyson on ten acres. One of my characteristics is that I'm unlike other girls; I'm not a big fan of shopping.    For fun I like to go to rodeos, concerts, read, travel, and hang out with friends.  I also love the ocean!  I love snorkeling and scuba diving, but if I can't do either of those, just swimming or lying on the beach is fine with me.  I chose College of Saint Mary for it's small atmosphere.  I love the small campus (so I'll never get lost), small community (it's great to know and get along with your whole residence hall floor), and small class sizes (easy to ask questions and know your professors).

I have three siblings, Christopher, Nicholas, and Elise.  My family owns a pizzeria in Niwot, CO called Lefty's.  I am a very caring and generous person.  My main goal and dream is to graduate from College of Saint Mary with a nursing degree (RN).  I want to be a pediatric nurse, so I can share my love for little children.   The reason I chose College of Saint Mary is because I received several scholarships and was very interested in the nursing program.  I also chose it because of the location.  I wanted to move out of state for my college experience, and I had many family members living in Omaha.  I also liked the aspect that College of Saint Mary is a small, private university.  I enjoy small schools because I am not treated as just a number, but people know my name and it fits my learning style better than a large school would.

I have four brothers and one sister.  I started out at Creighton University, and transferred to CSM for the Occupational Therapy program.  I appreciate the combined bachelor/master's program which allows me to finish all my school at CSM.  I also like the different fieldwork and clinical experiences offered through the program. I have discovered many things that I like about the college.  Do to the small size of CSM, it's easier to get involved in activities such as sports or clubs.  CSM gives me the opportunity to participate on the swim tea, which would not be possible at a bigger school.  I really enjoy being on the swim team.  It has helped me meet new people and compete on a team.  I also like the small class sizes as well as the residence hall, which given me the opportunity to meet new people and make friends.

I am the oldest daughter of 3 children.  Ironically I also have 3 children, one son and two daughters.  My daughters are 15 ½ and 8 years old.  My son is my baby, he is 4 years old.  I lived in Missouri all my life before moving to Omaha to attend CSM.  

I am a Resident Advisor in Walsh Hall which is where the Mothers Living and Learning program is currently located.  I am an active member of SOTA (Student Occupational Therapy Association), and on several committees throughout the campus.  I am also on the newly established Swim team as well.  I had originally looked at College of Saint Mary for the Mothers Living and Learning program.  I became really interested after reading more about that program as well as all the academic programs they offer.  Once I visited CSM, I knew that I found the right place for me.  I felt as if I were home.    

When I arrived, the faculty, staff and students greeted me with open arms and with smiles around every corner.  I knew in my heart that this was a place that would allow me to not only thrive as a student but where my children and I could flourish as a family.

I have an Associate of Arts from Central Community College in Columbus, NE.  I went to UNO for a year.  I had really liked the small classes and the community atmosphere at CCC, and then when I transferred at UNO for their Theater program.  I felt lost in the mix of students at UNO.  I decided to transfer to College of Saint Mary in January 2010.  My major is both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.  I plan on graduating from CSM in December 2012.  I really was excited about CSM's education program, and the intimate class settings.  It is much easier for me to get involved on campus.  The most exciting thing going on for me right now is I am starting to plan my wedding for 2011.

I chose College of Saint Mary because of the small campus and classrooms.  I love the hands on experience.  I am currently majoring in Biology, but I am considering double majoring in Psychology.  I currently live on campus to get the full college experience.  I love to play tennis.  I plan on being at CSM for the next 4-5 years in order to learn all I can before graduation.

My name is Elba Ayala but I go by my middle name Joanna. This is my first year here at college of Saint Mary. I want to double major in business administration and business information systems. I am in the Students Against Violence Club and in the Multicultural Association of Students. I chose college of Saint Mary because it is a small campus. In addition, the professors are always willing to help if I am having difficulties with a homework assignment, and the nicest thing is that they actually know you by name since the college is very small.
