FINANCIAL AID FAQ

HOW
DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID?
Apply for federal aid in one of two ways. The quickest and
most accurate method for a student to file their FAFSA is electronically
through FAFSA on the Web (available in both English and Spanish).
To do so, log on to www.fafsa.ed.gov. Once the application is completed, remember to
sign using your PIN number (parent also if applicable). Request your PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. If you prefer to complete a paper
application, contact the Express Center at 399-2362 for more information.

WHEN
SHOULD I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID?
Students will need
to file a FAFSA every year that they are in school (on or after January 1st
of each year). College
of Saint Mary's
academic year begins with the Fall Semester (August) and ends with the summer
term (July).

IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR FILING
MY FAFSA?
Yes. For priority
consideration, we recommend you file the FAFSA online (www.fafsa.ed.gov) no later
than March to insure prompt processing.

WHAT
TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE?
College
of Saint Mary
offers a variety of student financial assistance. Scholarships, grants, loans and work-study
are available individually or in combinations to assist with the cost of
attending College
of Saint Mary.

MAY I UPDATE MY MARITAL STATUS ON THE FAFSA?
You may NOT
update your status from single to married once you have signed and dated your
FAFSA. However, you may update your status from married to
separated/divorced. Once legal
proceedings have begun, complete a Professional Judgment Form available in the Express Center.

WHO SHOULD COMPLETE THE FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student
Aid)?
Students who have
applied for admission and are requesting financial assistance from CSM. If you
have questions about your admission status, please contact Enrollment Services
at 1-800-926-5534 or 402-399-2355.
·
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY AWARD LETTER?
Financial aid packages are mailed beginning April 1 to applicants who have
their FAFSA processed by the March priority deadline. All other applicants should allow
approximately four weeks after CSM receives your application information to
receive the award letter.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY FINANCIAL AID IF I WITHDRAW FROM CLASS?
If you decide to
withdraw from your classes, you need to see the Financial Aid office to discuss
the ramifications. If your financial aid
is re-packaged as a result, you will need to make payment arrangements in the Express Center should you have an outstanding
balance.

WHERE CAN I GET INFORMATION ON MY PERKINS/NURSING LOAN REPAYMENT?
You can get all
the information that you need at www.mycampusloan.com. Should you need further assistance, call
(402) 399-2650.

HOW CAN I FILE FOR PERKINS/NURSING LOAN DEFERMENT?
If you are
eligible for deferment, you can print the forms and instructions online at www.mycampusloan.com. All completed forms must be mailed to Campus
Partners (as indicated on the form).

WHEN
AND HOW WILL I DO PERKINS /NURSING LOAN EXIT COUNSELING?
Perkins and/or Nursing Exit Counseling is required when you:
-Withdraw from classes completely
-Are graduating at the end of the current semester
Perkins Exit counseling can be done online at www.mapping-your-future-org
Nursing Exit counseling needs to be done in person in the Express Center.

WHAT IF I PLAN TO ATTEND SUMMER SCHOOL?
In addition to completing the FAFSA, you also need to complete a Summer School
Financial Aid Application. The
applications are available in the Express Center in March.

ACCOUNTS FAQ

HOW DO I PRINT MY STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT?
You can print
your billing statement by logging in to IQ
Web. Under Account
Information, click the semester for which you want to print a student statement
and submit.

HOW DO I MAKE AN ONLINE PAYMENT?
You may pay
online by logging in to IQ Web. You will find the online payment option under
the money section.
·
WHAT CREDIT CARDS DOES COLLEGE OF SAINT MARY ACCEPT?
College of Saint Mary accepts Visa, MasterCard and
Discover.
·
DO I HAVE TO PAY MY ENTIRE BILL IN ONE PAYMENT?
No. For a fee we can arrange for you to
make four equal monthly installments.
·
WHY DO I HAVE A HOLD ON MY ACCOUNT?
Holds are placed on student accounts for a number of reasons. Contact the Express Center at 399-2429 to determine the
reason for the hold and to find out how it can be cleared.
·
I HAVE TUITION REIMBURSEMENT FROM MY EMPLOYER, HOW DO I VALIDATE?
When you validate for your classes, you need to do the
following:
Fill out a Corporate Deferment form; pay the corporate deferment fee,
and
provide a post-dated-check for the outstanding balance dated 30 days after the
end of the current semester.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY EMPLOYER WILL PAY THE COLLEGE DIRECTLY?
Secure an Authorization to Bill
from your employer for any charges they will pay and present it during
validation.
·
WHAT IF I DO NOT VALIDATE BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN?
If you do not validate, your classes may be dropped and
you will not be allowed to attend.
·
HOW AND WHEN DO I RECEIVE A REFUND?
When a credit balance is created on your student account,
a refund check will be issued to you. At
NO TIME will a refund check be issued if a credit balance does not exist. Allow
up to ten working days from the time a credit balance is created for the check
to be issued.
Refund checks are processed every
Tuesday and Friday. Checks can be picked
up in the Express Center after 3:00 PM on the same day
they were processed. Please present
picture identification. Any checks not
picked up will be mailed the next business day.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MAKE A LATE PAYMENT?
You will be assessed a late fee.
·
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CREDIT CARD IS DENIED?
You will receive a letter for the declined credit card
payment. If you do not replace the
declined credit card by the date on the letter you will be charged a late fee.
·
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE BANK RETURNS MY CHECK PAYMENT?
You will receive a letter for the returned check and
automatically be assessed a returned check fee.
If you do not replace the returned check by the date on the letter you
will be assessed a late payment fee as well.

WHERE CAN I CASH A CHECK AT THE COLLEGE AND FOR HOW MUCH?
A current student with no delinquencies on their account
can cash a check for $50.00 in the Express Center, room 176 of the Walsh
Administration building.
