Meet the Faculty

In 2012, Dr. Kathleen Zajic was named Chair of the Division of Health Professions at College of Saint Mary, She has taught a variety of nursing courses, with her main area of expertise being community health nursing and nursing leadership and management. Dr. Zajic holds a BSN from Creighton University, a MSN from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She successfully completed her Doctorate in Education from College of Saint Mary (CSM) in the fall of 2010. Dr. Zajic was named the Director of the ASN/BSN programs in June of 2010 and promoted to Associate Professor in May 2011. She joined CSM in 1991.

Contact Christi Christi Glesmann has taught a variety of nursing courses in the associate and bachelor degree programs, with her main area of expertise being pediatrics and quality improvement. Glesmann holds an ASN, BSN and MSN from College of Saint Mary. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in May 2012 and named the Director of the ASN/BSN programs in June of 2013. She joined the University in 2006. Glesmann is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. program at CSM.
Having worked in higher education for the past seven years, Mindy Barna has a wealth of experience in surgical and geriatric nursing. She is versed in curriculum development and NCLEX-PN preparation, and has served as an Item Writer for the NCLEX-PN exam for the past three years. Barna holds an ASN and BSN from College of Saint Mary, in addition to a MSN with an emphasis in nursing education from Nebraska Methodist College. Barna is currently the Director of Practical Nursing at CSM.    Contact Mindy
Contact MJ Dr. Petersen has taught theory and clinical in both medical-surgical and geriatric nursing. She has also taught courses in senior capstone quality improvement/evidence based practice projects and technology in higher education. Dr. Petersen holds a BSN from Creighton University, MSN from University of Nebraska Medical Center, Post Master's Certificate in Nursing Informatics from Duke University and an Ed.D. from CSM. She joined the University in 2002.
Anna Fuder-Boehm has taught courses in nursing from lifespan through to pharmacology, and psychiatric nursing, including clinical teaching. Fuder-Boehm holds a BS in Nursing from Creighton University and a MS in Nursing from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She joined the University in 2006. Fuder-Boehm is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. program at CSM. Contact Anna
Contact Marcy

Marcy Echternacht currently teaches psychiatric nursing theory and clinical courses and nursing concepts courses. Echternacht served on the Nebraska State Board of Nursing from January 2002 through December 2009. She was elected as President of the Nebraska Board of Nursing 2005 through 2009. She completed a BSN degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a MS degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Echternacht has been a member of the Nursing Faculty at CSM since 2000.

Susan Liston has taught theory and clinical in women's health in nursing across the lifespan. She earned her BSN from Mount Marty College, a Midwifery diploma from Frontier School of Midwifery, the Family Nurse Practitioner and a MSN from Case Western Reserve University and is pursuing doctoral studies at CSM. She joined the University in 1994. Susan is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. program at CSM. Contact Virginia Dr. Tufano is an Associate Professor of Nursing who coordinates and teaches courses for the ASN nursing program including: Nursing Fundamentals, Nursing Concepts, long-term care clinicals and advanced medical-surgical clinicals. Tufano holds a BSN from the University of the Incarnate Word, an MSN from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing and an Ed.D. with an emphasis on Health Care Professions from CSM. She joined the College in 2004.
Dr. Smid has been part of the CSM community since 1974. After many years in nursing administration, she returned to the classroom/clinical setting teaching courses in maternal child nursing, nursing legal/ethical issues and ethical issues in health care. Her primary clinical focus is pediatric care at Children's Hospital & Medical Center. Dr. Smid holds a BSN from Creighton University, a BS in Business from CSM, MSN from University of Nebraska Medical Center and an Ed.D. from CSM. Contact Roxanne Roxanne Kardell teaches beginning concepts and beginning lab, intermediate clinica, and open lab. She has previously taught with the LPN program at CSM. Kardell has her ASN and BSN. from CSM. She received a MSN from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2011 with an education focus. Her clinical experience is in Post Intensive Nursing and she joined CSM in 2010.
Colette Kroeten currently teaches geriatric, medical surgical nursing, theory and clinical. She earned her AD from North Dakota State University, BSN from Midland Lutheran College and MSN from Nebraska Wesleyan. She joined CSM in 2010. Contact Colette
Contact Jamie Jamie Hilderbrand is a nursing faculty member in the Associate of Science in Nursing program at CSM. She received her BSN from CSM and Masters in Nursing Education from Nebraska Wesleyan. Hilderbrand's previous nursing experience included working in rural healthcare with a wide variety of patients. Areas of nursing included: labor and delivery, post partum,  pre-operative/post operative, emergency room, acute care and medical/surgical.
Jennifer Kolker is a nursing fundamentals and complex care clinical instructor in the ASN program. Her nursing background includes post-intensive care, cardiac intensive care, and surgical care across the continuum. She received her BSN from Creighton University and MSN from CSM. She joined CSM in 2011. Contact Jennifer
Contact Tracey Tracey Green is a clinical instructor for the ASN program and Faculty Advisor for the Student Nurses Association (SNA). She has taught OB clinical and a beginning level clinical for the ASN program and taught in the PN program as adjunct faculty in summer 2009 and became full-time faculty in fall 2009. Green has medical-surgical/ pediatric experience along with a wealth of experience in maternal child nursing. Green has a BSN and a MSN from Nebraska Methodist College. Tracey is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. program at CSM.
Kristin Geist started teaching at CSM in 2011. She has an ASN and BSN from CSM and is currently enrolled in a Masterís in Nursing program. She has worked for six years as a pediatric nurse and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. Contact Kristin
