Sweeta Noori to speak at College of
Saint Mary on Friday, Oct. 23
On Friday, October 23, at 10 a.m. in Gross Conference Center, Sweeta Noori will speak about
"Education as a Change Agent" and her work with Women for Women International.
Currently the Country Director for Women for Women International - Afghanistan,
Ms. Noori has traveled extensively presenting the
situation of women and girls in Afghanistan. She has also worked with the
International Rescue Committee and as assistant to the chair of the Loya Jerga Commission in forming
the interim administration of Afghanistan.
Civic Engagement in Health Care
Reform Speaker Series
The Civic Engagement in Health Care Reform Speaker Series, sponsored by CSM and
Nebraska Methodist College, kicks off on Friday, Oct. 23, with a showing and discussion
of the movie, "Money Driven Medicine." The movie will begin at 9 a.m. in Room
212 of Walsh Hall on the CSM campus - followed by a discussion of the movie and
current health care reform issues. For more information about the Series,

CSM to host Visit Day this Sunday,
Oct. 25
This
Sunday, CSM will host a Visit Day for prospective students and their families.
Events begin at 10:15 AM and conclude at 1 PM. Scheduled activities include:
information sessions, campus tours, classroom experiences, lunch on the Plaza,
and a drawing for lots of fun prizes! "We hope this event will showcase
everything we have to offer and give prospective students a 'snapshot' of
campus life at CSM," said Joe Szejk, vice president of enrollment and
marketing.
Woodrow Wilson Fellows to visit
CSM, Oct. 26 - 30
College
of Saint Mary is pleased to welcome Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellows Sue Toigo and Derek Shearer for an intensive week-long visit,
October 26-30. While at CSM, Toigo and Shearer will
speak to classes, give lectures and meet with students and faculty members
informally throughout the week to share their wealth of knowledge.
Sue Toigo
is chairman of Fitzgibbon Toigo Associates, which
provides access for emerging and established investment managers to the global
institutional investment community. As a lobbyist for 16 years and as executive
director of The Children's Alliance she helped establish childcare centers
throughout California.
Derek Shearer is director and founder of the
International and Public Affairs Center at Occidental College in Los Angeles,
and he has served in government at the national, state and local levels. In
1992 he was senior policy advisor to Governor Bill Clinton, and in 1994
President Clinton named him U.S. Ambassador to Finland. In 1998 he became a
Senior Fellow at the Economic Strategy Institute, and in 2001 he became
director of global affairs and professor of international relations at
Occidental College.
