Celebrating 2015 Commencement

College of Saint Mary Celebrates 91st Commencement

College of Saint Mary awarded degrees to 267 graduates during its 91st Commencement May 17 at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center.

Commencement speaker Dr. Carolyn Woo, president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), spoke of the “radical generosity” of family, friends and strangers who befriended her when she felt the most vulnerable and alone. Woo, a Hong Kong native who emigrated to the United States to pursue an education, leads the international humanitarian agency that serves more than 100 million people in nearly 100 countries on five continents. Woo’s inspirational story of leaving home for an unknown future, yet always feeling surrounded by the love and presence of God, drew multiple ovations from the standing-room only crowd.

Commencement weekend included Baccalaureate Mass and Honors Convocation in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel and the Practical Nursing Certificate Ceremony in Gross Auditorium.

Carol McClellan M’10 addressed graduate degree candidates and their guests during the Hooding Ceremony in the Lied Fitness Center. McClellan teaches creative writing, academic literacy and English at Omaha South Magnet High School and serves as a member of the College of Saint Mary’s Education Advisory Board.
