College of Saint Mary Plans Welcome Days for Aug. 19-27
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary will welcome new and returning students to campus Aug. 19-27 for several days of fun activities and informational sessions designed to help them succeed academically and socially throughout their college experience.
“I am greatly looking forward to the upcoming Welcome Days. It is such a special time on the College of Saint Mary campus,” said Marisa Mathews, director of student leadership and inclusive programming. “We have so many fun events scheduled not only to welcome the incoming class but also give the chance for returning students as well as faculty and staff to engage in the excitement about the upcoming academic year.”
Welcome Days will feature new student orientation, a scavenger hunt, karaoke, bonfire, casino night, wellness opportunities, dive-in movie in the Lied Fitness Center pool, and music and grocery bingo. A Fall Fest Picnic for students, faculty, staff and their families will return for a third year on the campus green space and include a performance by Omaha Street Percussion, Kona Ice, inflatable axe throwing, face painting, electronic basketball, skee ball and other carnival type activities and food.
A fall pep rally will kick off the new academic year at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 24. The event will include a performance by the CSM Dance Team, games, prizes, Flames gear and a photo booth for back-to-school pictures.
“Welcome Days sets the tone for the rest of the year, and with the entire CSM community participating in these large community events, I think it sends a message to the incoming class that they made the right decision and this is a place where they belong and will be welcomed with open arms and hearts,” Mathews said.
Students will begin moving on campus Aug. 19. Classes begin Aug. 23. For more information, visit CSM.edu/WelcomeDays.
