Alumnae Spotlight
Linda Schindler '69
When Linda C. Schindler ’69 enrolled at College of Saint Mary, she began a new chapter in her life. The Bartlett, Neb., resident had to adjust to living in Omaha after growing up in a farm community.
“The activities or clubs sponsored by the college provided me with many opportunities and impacted me both socially and educationally,” she said.
Along with her classes, Linda said she learned to be observant and focused on the faculty and students’ abilities and how they guided her toward leadership goals through their examples.
“These goals became powerful and rewarding in the success of my future teaching and presentations,” Linda said.
After earning her degree in sociology in 1969, Linda returned to CSM and earned her degree in elementary education in 1975. She also earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Creighton University in 1991. Linda taught second grade at St. Richard’s for eight years. She then spent 29 years teaching third and sixth grades for Council Bluffs Community Schools. After retirement, she taught part-time in the Omaha Public Schools tutoring program.
Linda was one of nine alumnae honored with the Alumni Achievement Award during Homecoming on Sept. 21.
