Friday, April 19, 2024

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) was recently named one of the 2024 Best Graduate Schools for Occupational Therapy by U.S. News & World Report.

The ranking was part of a larger rankings release in which U.S. News evaluated business, education, fine arts, health, law, library studies, nursing public affairs, science, and social sciences and humanities graduate programs. Occupational therapy was included in the rankings for the first time in four years.

Associate Professor Tara Ruppert, OTD, director of CSM’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate, said the OT faculty and staff are honored to receive the recognition.

“Our OT program is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and this award emphasizes the strength of that legacy," she said. "Our OTD program is focused on helping our students become excellent clinicians and outstanding leaders. We are a tight-knit community that truly believes in supporting every student on their path. Our faculty team has extensive experience in nearly every clinical aspect of OT, so students get to learn from clinician experts. Our approach to teaching and learning makes us stand out because we emphasize hands-on learning, frequent practice, and high-quality feedback. All of this combined creates a program that is worthy of being called one of the best.”

CSM’S OTD program was launched in 2019. The program focuses on developing clinical practice skills, research skills, administration, leadership, program development, advocacy, and education. In addition, students must complete two 12-week fieldwork experiences along with a 14-week doctoral experience that culminates in a scholarly project.
