Author, fitness TV host to speak at College of Saint Mary
OMAHA, Neb. – Doug Brignole, an author, fitness TV host and personal trainer, will be a guest speaker during a lecture on March 24 at College of Saint Mary (CSM). Brignole will talk about his new book “The Physics of Resistance Exercise, at 8 a.m. in Gross Auditorium at CSM. The lecture, sponsored by the Student Sports and Exercise Science Organization (SSESO) on campus, is free and open to the public. The biomechanics book explains the physics of exercise and how one can assess which exercises are productive and which ones pose a risk of injury.
Brignole began his competitive bodybuilding career at 16 in 1976. At the age of 26, he won Mr. Universe, and he won again in 2019 at the age of 59. He is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise.
According to Dr. Andrew Shim, director of the kinesiology and exercise science program at CSM, students from several other universities, including Peru State, Nebraska Wesleyan and Concordia, are expected to attend the lecture.
The SSESO, which originated in the kinesiology department, promotes fitness to students and advocates for a healthy lifestyle. Open to any student, SSESO strives to assist the CSM students in becoming happy and in tip-top condition.
