CSM to host 2019 NATI Translators & Interpreters Conference

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) will host the 20th annual conference of the Nebraska Association for Translators and Interpreters (NATI) August 2nd & 3rd. In honor of the NATI conference’s twentieth anniversary, this year’s event is titled “20 Years of Advancing the Profession” and will focus on the interpreting profession’s evolution and continued advancement.

The NATI conference is open to translators, interpreters and other individuals involved with the profession. It is planned in collaboration with CSM's Interpreting Program, and this marks the second consecutive year CSM has hosted this conference.

The two-day event includes a variety of sessions concentrating on legal and medical interpreting, ethics, skills building and professional practices. Attendees will also have opportunities to hear a panel discussion, take exams and network with other professionals.

Marjory Bancroft, MA, from Cross Cultural Communications will be the keynote speaker and will present on “Overcoming the Impact of Trauma on Interpreters and Translators”. A multilinguist, Bancroft has taught in three countries and authored internationally-selling textbooks for interpreters and translators. Having served on medical interpreting advisory boards, she specializes in interpreting for trauma victims and currently directs the only national training agency for medical interpreters.
