Dr. Kahm Receives Catherine McAuley Teaching Award
Dr. Emily Kahm, associate professor of theology at College of Saint Mary, was awarded the Catherine McAuley Excellence in Teaching Award for the 2022-23 school year. The honor is a peer-nominated award for exemplary teaching. It is the highest honor bestowed upon a faculty member.
Dr. Kahm has been a faculty member since 2019. She was recently promoted to associate professor.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award and an affirmation of the energy and enthusiasm I try to always bring to my teaching,” she said. “It is especially meaningful that I am getting this award in only my fourth year at CSM, and as a theology professor, knowing that most of the students who register for my courses come into the classroom not knowing what theology is or why they have to take it. My role is to introduce my field as something relevant and intriguing, as one way to think about human values and motivations, and this award is evidence that, as least much of the time, I succeed.”
Dr. Kahm received the award during faculty assembly.
