Fifteen spring sport athletes named NAIA Scholar-Athletes
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the 2019 Daktronics Scholar-Athletes for spring sports and 15 Flames have made the list. Another four CSM student-athletes qualified for the NCBCA award.
To be named an NAIA scholar-athlete students must be a junior or higher academically, must have been at CSM for two full academic years or one full year as a transfer and must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
CSM’s tennis team leads the way with five student-athletes qualifying for the award. Carly Bindl, Katie Golka, Adriana Olague, Allyah Rayyan and Christina Ternent made the list.
In golf, four student-athletes from CSM were honored. Jesse Meints, Hannah Muroski, Rachel Peabody and Allie Vondra all qualified.
In softball, four Flames earned the recognition. Brittney Banks, Alicia Baca, Brenna Kirchhoff and Sophia Lange all were honored.
In track and field, Briana Davis and Faith Schleicher represent College of Saint Mary on the list.
In bowling (which was an NAIA emerging sport for 2018-19), four CSM student-athletes were named Collegiate Scholar Athlete by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association. Kylie Jackson, Merry McCully, Anna Walther and Haley Walther all earned the academic honor.
