vinNebraska, College of Saint Mary to host Women of Wine Symposium

Thursday, March 14, 2024

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary will host the inaugural Women of Wine Symposium on April 3 on the CSM campus. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in Gross Hall.

The symposium, sponsored by vinNebraska, aims to help women in the Midwest consider the wine industry, whether in service, sales, winemaking, ownership, retail, or other ways.

Master sommeliers, women winemakers, principals, and internationally renowned activists in the wine industry will speak during the day-long event.

“We are excited to welcome women who are working in the wine industry locally and from across the country for this first annual event,” said Deanna Albertson, vice president of vinNEBRASKA Foundation Board and owner of Vino Mas. “Giving women the opportunity to understand the various career paths available in the wine industry will help them see all of the ways they can work in this industry that I love.”

Four keynote speakers include Julie Dalton, a master sommelier who was the first female sommelier to win Houston’s Iron Sommelier competition in 2018; Sarah Bray, a wine educator, writer and brand strategist who co-founded the Batonnage Forum in 2018; Anna Brittain, executive director of Napa Green; and Jessica Wilmes, a sommelier, winemaker and owner of Fair Moon Wine Co.

The symposium will also include two panel discussions. It will close with a wine tasting and reception in Ward Hall.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at women-of-wine.org.
