Tri-Center High School Senior Receives $80,000 Marie Curie Scholarship

College of Saint Mary (CSM) surprised Nicole McPhillips of Honey Creek, Iowa, on Wednesday, March 29, with a Marie Curie Scholarship totaling $80,000 over four years.

The Tri-Center High School senior plans to major in biology at CSM this fall. She is the daughter of Steve and Julie McPhillips.

Nicole is a National Honor Society member and active in Quiz Bowl, band and choir. She has been honored with academic awards of excellence in geometry, social studies, language arts and physical sciences.

College of Saint Mary’s prestigious Marie Curie Scholars Program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, provides significant financial support and resources for academically-talented young women who study science or math. Marie Curie Scholars may receive up to $20,000 annually for four years in gift aid. Participants also receive free tutoring, have opportunities for undergraduate research, may participate in National Institute of Health and NASA research fellowships, and attend and present at national conferences.
