26 Students Recognized in PA Completion Ceremony at College of Saint Mary

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) celebrated its fifth annual Physician Assistant Completion Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Lied Fitness Center Fieldhouse. The event recognized 26 students who completed their Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree and will soon become certified, practicing physician assistants.

Clare Kennedy, PA-C, director of the physician assistant studies program at CSM, presided over the ceremony. “We are very proud of the graduates from the Class of 2022. They started on campus in fall 2020 during which there were significant restrictions due to COVID,” Kennedy said. “Yet they got to know each other and became a source of support for one another. They worked extremely hard and have been true ambassadors for our program while out in clinical rotations. We are excited for them to pursue the next step of becoming practicing physician assistants.”

Grant Gullickson ’22 led the invocation while Holly Baumann ’22, class president, gave the student speech. Dr. Jeff Keyte, associate professor, was the keynote speaker. Dr. Maryanne Stevens, RSM, CSM president, also addressed the graduates.

After obtaining their certification, the graduates will be practicing physician assistants, conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, ordering and interpreting tests, advising on preventative care, and helping in surgery and prescription writing.
