College of Saint Mary Celebrates Annual PA White Coat Ceremony

OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary celebrated its annual Physician Assistant White Coat Ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The event recognized physician assistant students who have earned entry into clinical patient care by presenting them with their white coats. “Everyone in the program was excited to have the CSM PA Class of 2024 receive their coats during the ceremony,” said Clare Kennedy, MPAS, director of the physician assistant studies program at CSM. “This signifies the students are on a professional course to their future careers of caring for patients.”

Kennedy presided over the ceremony. Sydney Kramcha M’24 led the invocation, while Natalie Englebretson from Omaha Children’s Hospital and Medical Center delivered the keynote address. After receiving their white coats, the students recited the Physician Assistant Student Oath.

The White Coat Ceremony is a rite of passage into the profession for PA students beginning their careers in healthcare. The White Coat symbolizes professionalism, ethical behavior, compassionate care, and service to others.

Upon receiving their white coats, students will complete their didactic year of education in the classroom and then enter their final 12 months of clinical rotations with hands-on practice in varied medical settings.
