Varnado Elected President of American Council of Academic Physical Therapy
Dr. Kimberly Varnado, associate professor and director of College of Saint Mary’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, was recently elected president of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) Board of Directors. Her term will start in October. She was serving as secretary.
Varnado earned her undergraduate degree from Tennessee State University and her doctorate in physical therapy from Indiana University. She completed orthopedic residency and manual orthopedic physical therapy fellowship training at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles and is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist/fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She helped launch CSM’s hybrid-learning DPT program in June 2020.
The ACAPT is a not-for-profit association dedicated to excellence in physical therapy education programs as a whole. ACAPT’s core purpose is to lead physical therapy in pursuit of academic excellence, according to its website.
